We've got great news to share-at last night's PEP meeting, the proposal to co-locate CI Prep in the IS303 building beginning next school-year was approved! Many thanks to the CI Prep family, including our Board, scholars, staff, families, and friends who helped make this happen. It was inspiring to see the respectful manner with which the CI Prep community conducted itself throughout this process!

At a celebration of charter schools in NYC, Mayor Bloomberg pointed to Coney Island Prep as a model of a charter school using a creative solution to the facilities challenge facing all charter schools, and one that he hopes to replicate across the city. We officially have a facility! Coney Island Prep will be housed in the Carey Gardens Community Center, which is located at 2315 Surf Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11224. We are extremely excited about this location and cannot wait to welcome our inaugural class of 5th graders to this beautiful space.

It is now official! On December 15, 2008, the New York State Board of
Regents formally voted unanimously to approve Coney Island Prep. While
we were recommended for approval by the NYC Department of Education in
September 2008, this vote of approval by the State was the final part
of the authorization process.

Coney Island Prep is now on Facebook! Join our Cause page by searching in the Causes application for "Coney Island Preparatory Public Charter School," and join over 250 other people who have shown their support for Coney Island Prep through Facebook. If you do not currently have the Causes application, go to http://apps.facebook.com/causes/ to add the application.

Coney Island Prep's student enrollment form is now online! Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Enrollment" to download the form. To enter your child into the lottery, please complete the form and mail it to: Coney Island Prep, C/O NYC Charter Center, 111 Broadway, Suite 604, New York, NY 10006. All forms must be received by 5 p.m. on April 1, 2009 for your child to be entered into the lottery. Please email info@coneyislandprep.org if you have questions or need help filling out this form.
