When will Coney Island Prep open?

Coney Island Prep opened on August 31, 2009, welcoming an initial class of 90 5th grade students.

Is my child eligible to enroll?

Coney Island Prep has no admission requirements – any child who is grade-level eligible and who lives in New York City can enroll. Students from Community School District (CSD) 21 are given preference.

Is there a cost to attend Coney Island Prep?

No. Like all public schools, Coney Island Prep is entirely tuition-free.

Is transportation provided? Are breakfast and lunch served?

Yes. Students are eligible for the same transportation and food services provided for all New York City public school students.  We are unable, however, to offer a yellow-bus service.  Rather, we manage a MetroCard distribution for students who qualify as determined by the NYC Department of Education.

Where will the school be located?

The school is located in the heart of Coney Island in the Carey Gardens Community Center, which can be found at 2315 Surf Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11224.
